To reduce water wastage and dependency on ground water, we use a drip irrigation system. We also plant trees that are drought resistant and emphasise on plants that require less water to survive. Rainwater harvesting is also done to ensure an increase in ground water level.
Growing Fauna
At Earthsong, we wish to welcome not only humans but also birds and butterflies! As an invitation to set up their homes here, we are dotting the campus with numerous fruit-bearing trees — perfect housing for little wings.
Conserving Energy
All our streetlights and garden lights are energy-efficient. Our aim is to increase this number over time, reducing our dependency on planet-harming power sources.
Cleaner Air
Our green cover absorbs approximately 20 kg of dust and up to 80 kg of toxic gases. One tree purifies about a million sq. ft. of polluted air, while releasing around 700 kg of oxygen. (Reminder: we have over 16,000 trees)
Better Climate
The sheer number of trees also leads to another welcome change. You can actually feel the temperature at Earthsong to be at least 2 ̊ lower than the city’s. We’re bringing Bangalore’s cool summers back.
Healthier Soil
We are working with a team of botanists to identify and plant native trees to keep the soil fertile and rich. Earthsong’s experienced gardening crew monitors and tends to all plants and trees regularly.
